2004 Tacoma DoubleCab

When Toyota **FINALLY** introduced the DoubleCab to the North American Market, I immediately placed an order. That was October of 2000. I never bought that truck. Life has a tendancy to throw you loops from time to time, and my dream of owning a DoubleCab was put on hold when the girl of my dreams said she would marry me. Sadly, when dreams come true, the do so with a great responsibility. A person must cherish that dream, appreciate it and thank God for it daily... Because dreams are most fragile after they come true.

I headed down to the local Toyota dealer on a Saturday morning in December, 2003, hell bent on taking another look at the DoubleCabs. The truck I originally ordered in '00 was a Black Sand Pearl Limited without ABS or the electric 4-hi switch. Low and behold, sitting on the lot was another Black Sand Pearl DoubleCab. No, it wasn't a Limited, and it has ABS and the electric 4-hi switch, but hey, it's close. Besides, finding Limited Tacomas up here in Minnesota is hard to do. The only reason I really wanted the Limited is for the adjustable front seats - an option that Toyota stopped offering with the SR5 package with the introduction of the Tacoma. So it really wasn't worth the extra thousand or so Washingtons anyway.

Thus far the truck is stock, and after much thought, I've decided it will stay this way. I had thought about the addition of a TRD Gen-II SuperCharger and Underdog Racing Development fuel kit, TRD Headers and the largest tranny coolor I can find, but to what end? The truck runs great, gets very good mileage (17-20 consistently) and serves it's purpose. I may add a coating of Line-X and an AccessCover for the box, but that will likely be where I stop. The only other mod I'm currently contemplating is replacing the front seats with those from a 4Runner. For some reason Toyota decided that only 4Runner drivers need lumbar and lateral support...

Eventually a few pictures will make there way onto this page. Eventually...
